In 2024, our organization took a big step toward more sustainable travel. More and more, we chose to leave the car behind and travel by train — and the impact speaks for itself.
In 2023, we traveled a total of 10,368 kilometers by train, saving 1,161 kilograms of CO₂ compared to traveling the same distance by car. But in 2024, we went even further: together, we logged 25,885 train kilometers, resulting in a CO₂ savings of no less than 2,745 kilograms.
What’s more, train travel in the Netherlands is especially green: since 2017, all Dutch Railways (NS) trains have been running entirely on wind power. The Netherlands was the first country in the world to achieve a fully wind-powered national rail system.
This is a fantastic achievement that shows what we can accomplish when we make conscious choices. Less emissions, fewer traffic jams, and a positive impact on the climate — all thanks to your efforts.
